sore!

My calves are wicked sore. In a good way, but sore nonetheless. I’m not going to say it’s the barefoot shoes, because I’ve been wearing them for almost a month now, but rather I think it’s playing with the WiiFit (which I don’t really consider a workout, just fun). I tend to land on the balls of my feet and it’s much more calf-centric than my regular runs. But I really felt it after my 3-miler yesterday. So I’m laying low until my scheduled 4-miler on Saturday.

I feel really good about how things are progressing. I know roughly how far my scale is off of the one at WW and if I’m right I might hit 10% this week, and if not this week then definitely by my birthday next week. Holla! This is a BFD for me as I’ve done WW before and ended up fading out of it before the 10% mark, so getting that stupid keychain is important to me.

I have the BEST day planned for Saturday. I have to keep reminding myself that my birthday is NEXT week because I’m so excited for this Saturday. First I will go to my meeting (and hopefully get my keychain), then boy and I will meet up to go grocery shopping. Then we’ll come home, put groceries away, I’ll change clothes and we’ll go into town to see an art exhibit (paintings by the director of the summer camp I work for), get lunch (I have a birthday coupon from one of my favorite restaurants), and pick up my new computer!!! So psyched. Then I have a 4-mile run, and then in the evening we’re going to see the one-act at the high school (a friend is the director and a bunch of other friends are involved with the costumes, tech, ads, etc.). Then we’ll probably go out for a drink or two with the crew. Can’t wait. 🙂

Jillian Michaels Radio Show-Podcast #1!!

Jillian Michaels Radio Show-Podcast #1!!

(1) submitted my 1st proof for the February Fitblr races–doing the 5k this time around. A pretty average 5k time for me–43:30. My goal is to break 40 by my 2nd proof.

(2) today marks 2 weeks until my birthday. I will start celebrating next week. (seriously, I already have next Saturday all planned out) I ::heart:: my birthday–and I can tell already that 29 is going to be an AWESOME year. 🙂

(3) I was down another 2 lbs at my meeting this morning, which puts me 2-3 pounds from my 10%–and I want that damn keychain as my birthday present! I can totally do this in the next couple of weeks. It’s.On.

Busy Saturday

8:30 – WW meeting (down another 2 lbs!)

9:15 – Grocery shopping

10:30 – pre-workout snack

11:30 – 3 mile run, stretch, etc.

2:30 – community service activity with Junior Youth group

-plan for the week

-download some new tunes? and back up iTunes library in preparation for NEW COMPUTER!!

Quickly before my meeting…

(1) I wish that DailyMile and Tumblr would hook up already so my DailyMile posts would just come here automatically. That would make my world better. Aren’t enough of us Fitblrs using DailyMile that we could talk the powers that be into this?

(2) I’m loving these mid-day runs. Until I get to the point I’m running outside and need to take the heat into consideration, I think I’ve found my sweet spot. The gym isn’t crowded, and I just feel so good going in and afterwards. I’m not tired or dreading it going in. If anything, I sneak out of work early because I’m excited to go. 🙂

(3) I’m at the very tail beginning of my official half-marathon training. And I LOVE how easy it feels. I mean my runs are all short right now–2-3 miles–but they just feel easy. I’m not struggling with them. I’m pushing and playing with speed in a way that I know I won’t be able to on longer runs.

K. That’s it for now. Need to make a phone call and get cleaned up for my meeting. Lata!

I have the sudden and sinking feeling that my carefully planned and timed day is going to crash–I don’t think I put a shirt in my gym bag. As I am not what we call a “sports bra runner” this is a problem. Alas the bag is in my car and I’m not suiting up just to go see.

No matter. If I can’t run before my meeting, I shall go home and do some work around the apartment until my meeting and I will hit the gym to run tonight (after 7 when it starts to clear out).

Food…ugh

So I was wicked sick this past weekend. Serious stomach bug on Friday, woke up at 1 am and spent the next few hours steps from the bathroom with bucket nearby. Alternated sips of clear liquids, moaning, and sleeping for the rest of the day. Had some applesauce around 9 pm, finally.

Saturday I felt a lot better. I had soup, some saltines, and some very bland plain noodles with just a touch of butter. Drank a bit of juice and ginger ale. But I was still running a fever, so I stayed at home, on the couch. (I make every effort to keep my germs to myself.)

Fever is gone, and I’ve had occasional hunger pangs, but for the most part food is utterly unappealing to me. I’m still not quite 100%. I’m having trouble eating enough because nothing sounds good. I believe that part of the reason I’m still somewhat queasy is because I’m actually hungry (I feel a little better after I eat something) but I’m having a hard time eating because I’m still somewhat queasy. And my energy is wicked low because I’m not eating enough.

Anyone else going through this? Any suggestions on how to deal?
